DIRECT-CURRENT AND ALTERNATING-CURRENT GENERATOR This model shows the construction and operating principle of a DC and AC generator. As the wheel turns (manually), the bulb. will light up. This generator is a permanent magnet that turns the armatures. When the two brushes of the generator are positioned at the two ends of the commutator, the generator will output alternating current (AC); when the brushes are placed in the centre of the commutator, the generator will output direct current (DC).
