Two Stage Epicyclic Gear Apparatus

Model HV-EXP2553
Technical Description Consists of 2 identical epicyclic gear  stages with 3 planet wheels each. They are coupled in a way that the  ring gear of the first stage is connected to the planet carrier of the  second stage. Up to 4different transmission ratios can be realised by  blocking single wheels. The gears are driven using a cable drum and a  variable set of weights that are lifted using a removable crank. Unwinding is prevented by a detent pawl. To determine effective torque, the  deflection of a bending beam is used to measure forces. The speeds of  the stages are measured by inductive sensors and can be recorded as  speed-time diagram using a chart recorder. Effective moments of inertia  are determined via angular acceleration. A transparent safety cover  prevents unintentional contact with rotating parts..
